Jordan Anderson in his #19 City
of Forest Acres Legends Car was vying for his second
consecutive championship in the Summer Shootout Pro division
Tuesday night at the historic Lowe's Motor Speedway, a feat
that had never been done before, until Tuesday night.
Going into Tuesday night's race
Anderson was 2nd in points, 7 points behind the #06 Chris
Buescher of Prosper, Texas. In order to claim the
championship Anderson would have to be ahead of Buescher by
at least two spots when the checkered flag flew over the
field.
After qualifying 11th in the 23
car field of 'America's best racers' Anderson knew he would
have to work hard to claim the championship since the #06 of
Buescher would roll off in the 4th spot. When the starting
flag flew the action on track began. Anderson and his white
and black #19 car could be seen moving through the field
with a desire to win. After numerous daring passes and near
misses Jordan Anderson was just one spot behind the points
leader.
With three laps to go the race
was slowed for a wreck on the frontstretch setting up a
three lap shootout to the finish. For the restart the double
file rule was put into effect, placing Anderson in the 5th
spot and his points competitor in third. When the green flag
flew the racers entered turn one and action ensued. When the
smoke cleared Anderson had passed enough cars to place
himself in position to win the championship. When it was all
said and done Jordan Anderson was awarded the 2008 Quaker
Steak and Lube Summer Shootout Pro division Championship.
As quoted by Lowe's Motor
Speedway: "Jordan
Anderson proved to be as strong as steel Tuesday night at
Lowe's Motor Speedway when Stock Car Steel and Aluminum
presented the season finale of the Quaker Steak & Lube
Summer Shootout Series. In one of the greatest comebacks in
the 15-year history of the series, the 17-year-old Anderson,
of Forest Acres, S.C., claimed his second consecutive
championship in the Pull-A-Part Legends Car Pro division.
Just three weeks ago, Anderson
was 87 points behind Chris Buescher, of Prosper, Texas.
Anderson visited victory lane during weeks eight and nine,
and entered the final night with a seven-point deficit.
Buescher ran fourth with Anderson on his rear bumper in
fifth during much of the 20-lap race, but the championship
was decided on a lap-17 restart when Buescher was involved
in a multi-car tangle in Turn 2. With Buescher struggling to
regain control, Anderson slipped by on the inside and went
on to finish fourth while Buescher had to settle for
seventh. The difference between the two competitors was
enough for Anderson to claim the title by a mere seven
points."
In Victory Lane Anderson gave
all the glory to Jesus Christ, thanked all those from the
Nick Pistone Racing team for their hard work and effort at
the race shop and all the Jordan Anderson Racing sponsors. A
special thanks goes out to The City of Forest Acres, The
Forest Acres Restaurant and Merchants Association, Dick Dyer
Toyota, Leon H. Jones Insurance, Green Orthodontics,
