PRO: ANDERSON STARTS 2008 WHERE HE LEFT 2007 – VICTORY LANE
~ By Jason Buckley
In last season’s Summer Shootout Series at Lowe’s Motor
Speedway, Tyler Green dominated the first seven weeks of the
Pro Division in Legends competition, but the Sizzler
three-race title chase format ruined any chances he had at
the championship after he had difficulty in the first of the
three showdown events. On the other hand, Jordan Anderson
entered the Shootout, playing the game as it was written and
ended up the Summer Shootout Pro champ.
In the 2008 edition of the series, Green is sitting out,
choosing to focus on his Late Model career. Meanwhile,
Anderson is back at the track to defend his title chase in
the new Sizzler-free points format. Anderson did exactly
what he needed to this season by taking the first victory of
the season.

Anderson started on the front row and only looked back to
see his competition in his mirrors. The joy of taking his
first step on the way to the Shootout championship had a
very social Anderson almost speechless.
“Usually I go on and make a long conversation, but tonight I
am so happy I am almost out of breath,” said Anderson. “I
am going to make it short and sweet. I got to give all the
glory to Jesus Christ, Mom & Dad, Nick Pistone Racing, and
that is all I have to say. It was a great night.”
Behind Anderson, Steven Ross, who has been tearing up the
tracks this year in his Tim Ladyga machine, finished second
on a track that started off a bit slick due to the School
Bus race carnage that happened the race before.
“They let the buses go before us and they laid down a bunch
of oil,” explained Ross. “Lowe’s did the best job they
could to clean it up with the oil dry. The outside groove
was really slick. I got caught on the outside and it
wouldn’t grip, and we fell back from there.
“We passed a bunch of cars and missed that wreck in three
and four. The car was good and we were running down
Anderson a bit. The car was turning really good through the
center of the corner. It was a great start of the season
and definitely a good points day for us. We will win a
couple of these throughout the season.” |
