How to Accept Christ
|
Christ's Beauty
I was saved and gave my life over to the Lord at 6 years
old, and have taken every day since then as a blessing.
Everything I do in my life, the decisions I make, the things
I say, the things I think, and the things I do, all are
based off what I have learned through God's word, the Bible.
I hold 1 Timothy 1:12 very close to my heart, because you
could say it’s like my life verse. It says “I thank Christ
Jesus our Lord, who has strengthened me, because He
considered me faithful, putting me into service,” As a
Christian I am a servant to God, a child of a King, a
receiver of Salvation. I take each of these as a blessing
and am so thankful that God has called me to be a servant.
Every day I praise Him for sending his one and only son,
Jesus Christ, to Earth, where he lived a perfect life and
gave Himself up on the cross as a sacrifice so that my sins
would be forgiven. It brings me to pain to think of my sin
nature, yet gives me hope to know that I have a God whose
mercy is so great that I can’t even imagine it.
I handle my racing program as a ministry and use it to talk
to others about how God has worked in my life, and how He
has used my racing career as a way to grow my relationship
with him, and the faith that I have placed in him. As a race
car driver you’re sure to at one point or another experience
trials, successes, and tribulations, but for me God has used
these events as tools to grow me in my understanding of Him
and how great He is.
I began racing at the age of 8 and have been blessed to have
the opportunity to pursue after something which I have
passion for. When I first started out, I raced go-karts at
numerous local tracks, and then at 11 years old made the
transition to racing Bandolero Cars. At 12 years old I then
began to race Legends cars. Throughout my Legends Car career
the Lord blessed me with many championships and race wins,
giving me the opportunity to praise Him everywhere I raced.
In 2007 and 2008 God’s hand was at work in my life by
blessing me with the Lowe’s Motor Speedway Pro Division
Summer Shootout Championship both years.
During these two years I grew incredibly in my faith. I’d
have races where everything went right and then races where
everything went wrong. But one thing I continued to develop
during this tenure was my faith in Christ. As Matthew 17:20
says “And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of
your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the
size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move
from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be
impossible to you.”
2009 was a very exciting year for me. I began to race a Dirt
Late Model after 10 years of asphalt experience. This in
itself was a challenge, but God kept me strong and kept me
from slipping. At the beginning of the year I struggled, but
kept my faith. As I continued to gain experience, in the
very last race of the season, I made a last lap pass between
a lap car on the bottom and won by about 3 feet. After going
back and watching the video numerous times, the pass was so
close that the only way it could’ve happened was that the
Lord’s hand was at work. This for me was the incredible, and
it was an affirmation from God that the season was what he
had wanted it to be, and that I was where I needed to be in
my life and faith.
I tell people often that I have two goals in my life that
have been set since I can remember. Pulling from the study
of what man's chief end is in life, my goal in life is to
glorify God, and enjoy him forever. I also have a goal of
one day race in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. I pray that
God would continue to provide me with opportunities so that
I may use my racing career, and be bold and proclaim his
name everywhere I go.
As Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your
heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your
ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
