Saturday's Race Recap
BRASELTON, GA
-- Hot off of a Victory the night before at
Concord Motorsport Park, Jordan Anderson and the
Nick Pistone Racing crew headed to Lanier National
Speedway on Saturday in Braselton, Georgia.
There was only one round of practice for the Legends
Car on Saturday and that was all Jordan needed.
Jordan clocked off both fast and consistent laps
throughout the round of practice. After Practice
Jordan decided not to make any changes on his car
and leave the setup as it was for the heat races. "Nick
Pistone Racing put a great setup under my car today
and I'm really optimistic about my
chances for today's race with such a great handling
car."
Within 20 minutes of the Legends Car heat races
starting, it was beginning to seem as if Rain would
take the day's win. After sitting through an hour
rain delay, the skies cleared and the sun came out,
allowing the Legends Car heat races to get underway.
In his heat race Jordan started in 2nd place after
drawing a #7 in the pill draw, which determines the
drivers starting spots for the heat races. When the
green flag flew Jordan and the other competitors
were off. Jordan was stuck on the outside groove,
and it was not until lap 5 that Jordan could finally
get down to the inside groove in the 4th spot and start his march
towards the front. Within a few laps, Jordan had taken
over 2nd spot and set his eyes on the leader. As
each lap went by, Jordan made the distance between
him and the leader smaller and smaller. As the two
drivers were coming to the checkered flag Jordan
made a final move to the inside and came within
only a few feet of victory in his Qualifying heat
races. The field for the feature race was set and
Jordan was placed in the 4th starting spot for the
main race later that night.
When the Green flag flew on the 24 car field of
Legends Car Pros and Masters, Masters National
Champion Clay Hair was on the pole, and Pro National
Champion Casey Roderick was in 2nd. Jordan was
starting from the 4th spot and knew it would be
tough to get by these two fast drivers, but not
impossible. After getting shuffled back into 6th
place at the beginning of the race, Jordan started
his move towards the front. It seemed like almost
every lap Jordan was passing a car until he found
himself in 2nd place with only a handful of laps
remaining.
After a late caution flag caused by a wreck, the
fans at Lanier National Speedway would see a 3 lap
duel to the finish between the top 3 drivers,
Casey Roderick, Jordan Anderson and Clay Hair. On
the restart Roderick jumped out to a slight
advantage over Jordan, but that didn't keep Jordan
down. Going into turn 1 on the final lap, Jordan
nudged Roderick out of the way to take the lead. But
It was not over yet as Roderick tried to nudge
Jordan back out of the way going into turn 3, but
Jordan held his ground and went on to take his first
win of 2007 at Lanier National Speedway, in a most
exciting fashion. After the race Jordan was very
excited and had this to say in Victory Lane "Wow!
That was an exciting finish. First off I have to
thank Jesus Christ for giving me the ability and
talent to drive this race car, I give him all the
glory and honor for my Victory today. I also have to
thank my mom and dad and the Nick Pistone Racing
crew for a great setup, and Casey Roderick for that
exciting finish there at the end!"
