Friendship Speedway 2nd place

Weekend's Race Recap

ELKIN, NC --  Saturday's Event at Friendship Speedway proved an eventful one as hot shoes Jordan Anderson, Mitchell Coble, and Kory Abbott all vied for the race win late in the day.

Kory Abbott started from the pole position and had a strong car, but eventually got booted back to the third position behind Coble and Anderson.

“It could have been better,” said Abbott.  “We were good in practice, but we slowed down.  I told my dad to loosen it up and I think we went the wrong way.  I was good for 10 laps but in the long race they got me.  I had a lot of power down the straightaway.  That helped me out too.”

Abbott might have had the best seat in the house as Mitchel Coble and Jordan Anderson put on a hard battle for the lead.  The bumpers on their cars got a workout as the race was very physical.  By the end of the race, it was Coble besting Anderson, but that didn’t set well with the driver of the #19.

“I was praying that they wouldn’t wreck my car up,” said Anderson.  “I was trying to be smart that race.  Two other guys just didn’t seem to care about wrecking the cars.  I am racing on a budget; obviously these guys aren’t.   We came off turn four one time for the lead and Mitchell either put me in the wall or I was going to hit him.  I had to hold it down.  He is a local track guy here so they aren’t going to black flag him for driving dirty.  It is a situation of just trying to be a smart driver and obviously he wasn’t showing that.  We have raced here twice against each other and he has driven me like that both times, so it is just sad.  I like Mitchell, but I hate to see that happen.  It is good if you can pass somebody clean, but to try to put you in the wall is uncalled for.”

Coble wasn’t quite sure what had happened, but didn’t have a problem with the outcome.

“It was a pretty good race,” said Coble.  “It was a good three-way battle there I guess.  We had a little contact there on the front stretch.  I am not sure what that was all about but I guess that is racing for the lead.  I thought I gave him plenty of room.  Maybe we didn’t, I don’t know.  We touched a little bit and both went on, so I am not that concerned about it.”

At the end of the day Jordan Anderson was able to walk away from Friendship Speedway with a solid 2nd place finish.
