Race Recap
CONCORD, NC --
Things
are starting to look up for Jordan Anderson. With
the signing and support of new sponsors almost every
week, a new car, Jordan's 2007 racing season is
starting to shape up.
After going through some
adversity on Saturday and dealing with problems on
the new car, the true driver in Jordan showed
through on Sunday. After starting 3rd in his heat
race, Jordan went on to finish 2nd in the heat race
which would place him starting 3rd for the feature.
After the heat race, the
Nick Pistone racing crew, consisting of Chickenman,
Gary, and Nick , went to work on Jordan's car trying
to fix all the kinks and problems that come with
driving a new car. Jim McLean of Tri...Performance
also fixed a major problem in the motor. With the
help and work of such great people, Jordan knew
there was no reason why he couldn't win.
When the Green Flag fell
on the Feature race, Jordan was just determined as
ever. Jordan moved into 2nd place on lap 3 and ran
behind the leader until lap 13. On lap 13, another
driver bumped Jordan and slid him up track, putting
Jordan in 3rd place. However, Jordan did not give
up. He kept digging and kept the leaders insight and
with 2 laps to go a caution came out, setting up a 2
lap race to the checkers. On the restart, the 1st
and 2nd place cars touched, and Jordan saw his
opportunity to take the lead. Jordan made it 3 wide
in turn 3 and 4 coming to take the white flag. He
and the previous leader ran side by side all around
the track, and coming to take the Checker flag,
Jordan edged ahead of the other driver a few inches
to take his first win of 2007.
Jordan was very excited
in Victory Lane, as he showed by climbing on top of
his car and jumping off. Jordan had this to say
after the race....
"For the Heat race
I started 3rd and passed for 2nd on the first lap
and finished there placing me in a 3rd place start
for the feature. On the first start of the race the
Leader jumped the start, so they tried it again. The
Leader once again jumped the start, so the CMP
officials decided to make us start single
file, which really hurt me.
When the race finally got underway, I knew this was
going to be my day. I was praying so much during the
race. As the race went on, I took 2nd place on lap 2
and ran there till lap 11 when Thomas Hartensveld
got by me. Steven Daniels and I battled for 3rd
place for most of the race, and on lap 23 a caution
came out, setting up a 2 lap race to the checkers. I
was sitting in 3rd place and I knew I had a shot. As
soon as the green flag came out I was all over 2nd
place and he was all over the leader, Mitchell
Coble. Coming out of turn 2 both cars got loose and
I made it three wide on the inside. We ran two wide
for two laps and coming to the checkered flag I used
the car outside of me as a bumper and I floored in
and never let off driving across the finish line
sideways and leading the most important lap of the
race, the final lap.
I was so excited I couldn’t believe it; I had only
won the race by a few inches. When I got to victory
lane, I jumped out of my car and climbed on the roof
pumping my fist; it was good to be back in victory
lane.
Most of all I have to give thanks to God, my mom and
dad, and the guys on the NPR team, Chickenman, Gary,
Nick and Jim Mclean from Tri...Performance, for
working so hard on my car and getting it where in
needed to be, If it wasn't for you guys I wouldn't
have made it to Victory Lane.
"
Special Thanks from
Jordan To: My Mom and Dad for supporting me this
weekend, The entire NPR crew especially Nick,
Chickenman, and Gary, and To all my great sponsors
and supporters!
